Attention: New Anti-Spyware Solution for UT Martin Campus
In a continuing effort to improve our network, IT Services has implemented a new anti-spyware solution for all our on-campus users. This new solution will protect our users by preventing spyware from being installed on their computers. The solution will provide the added protection from malicious websites by preventing access to sites that are known to distribute spyware.
Spyware is defined as any software that covertly gathers and monitors user information through the user’s Internet connection without their knowledge and reports back to a server on the Internet. Spyware is commonly used as a universal term to include this type of software along with other malicious programs and ad-aware. To learn more about spyware please visit the Spyware Information portion of our website.
With the implementation of this new anti-spyware solution, you may notice that you are no longer able to visit certain websites and that you receive a message notifying you that this site contains spyware. If you receive one of these messages on a site that you believe to be trustworthy and spyware free, please contact the Helpdesk at 7900.
